I just got the rear tyres changed on my 1996 318is, fine, no problem. However, going to get the front tyres done this month and the load index is different on the front than the rear. The guy I bought it off had mis-matched tyres. Cheapo brand on the rear (91 load), cheap-ish front left, continental(?) front right (both 94 load). Just wondered, did he just find a 94 load index tyre and match the front one to balance it? Is it something to do with weight distribution (ie; engine at the front/braking/handling)? The fact it's the sport model, so no traction control? I've got bridgestone's fitted at the back now, 91 load index. Do I need 94 on the front cos I can't get a 94 in the same tyre. Sorry if it's a dumb question

The sticker in the door jamb that gives the pressures should also state the load index - don't go any lower. And don't mix tyres on the same axle and on the car if poss.
