E39 535i - buying advice sought please!

Hello All,
I'm looking at buying a 2000 (on a 'V') E39 535i Auto
Can anybody offer any suggestions on what to look for?
The car seems to drive fine (although I only got to drive it at 30 'round the block') but it seems nice and tight and rattle and knock free.
I have been in touch with the former keeper, and he has told me it was running fine, with no problems.
Car has done 73k miles (verified) and only problems I can see, are a couple of rusty spots from stone chips, and the digital odometer display appears to have lost a few pixels (a common problem?).
