Going to look at 2001 E46 325 sport.80k on clock FSH.

Any known issue with this model?
What is due around this time, cambelt etc?

At 80k is next service a inspection 1 or 2?

Hello,

I have the same model albeit a 2002. Just gone over the 70K mark so pretty similar.

In the 2½ years I've owned the car nothing has gone wrong, however I've replaced several maintenance items (brakes, tyres etc) and also a few precautionary items which would have required attention in the future regardless.

The front wishbone rear bushes for example, a known problem, were done probably ahead of time but made a real + difference to the handling.

I replaced both belts (serpentine and A/C), again just to be safe.

Will have a cooling system overhaul (water pump, thermostat, tensioner) done along with the next service in a couple of months.

At that age it really depends on what services the car has had previously.

Enjoy.. Mine still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it!!

I will answer your question anyway.

You are told when to service by the car, something around 15,000 miles.

If it's a steptronic auto, get the oil and filter changed.

It seems to be broken rear springs, cracked drive belts and worn bushes round that mileage. I have an 02 330i Sport at the moment and it's great to drive

2004 330i here with 95k on the clock, runs very well, problems so far include cracked rear springs, bowed radiator, broken thermostat, I've done a complete cooling system overhaul as a precaution including water pump, thermostat, radiator, expansion tank, hoses, temperature sender, not that difficult a job, took me about 4 hours, cost around £450 in genuine parts.
