E36 bits and pieces

I need to remove my rear bumper and I cannot seem to find where it is bolted to the body, the other thing I need to do is remove the heater control panel - do I need to remove the stereo before I can remove it or do I need special tools?

The bumper is held on by a couple of bolts under the trim strip and probably some screws to the wheelarch liner. It is located onto the guides on either side.
