As things go I had my Sunday morning spoilt by the tyre pressure indicator informing me of a puncture just as I set off from home. Sure enough I find a nice screw buried into one of my front wheels.
I was considering changing all 4 tyres to normal non runflats in the next couple of months as the 2 front ones are very worn on the edges.
Back ones have plenty of meat left but I do find the ride unbearable and pretty dangerous especially on potholes when nearing a bend or on a bend itself so this is enough to justify changing the whole lot.
Car is a e92 330i se model with 225/40 18 w front and 255/35 18 w at the back.
I am wondering which make of non run flats would be most appropriate for the car, basically which would you recommend. And would the non run flats effect the suspension setup ?
Any advice would be most appreciated as need to sort this out tomorrow.

I've seen Falkens recommended a lot on places like this (try a search on that if you want to do research) or maybe Michelin PS2s if you want a more mainstream brand ?

Kumho KU31s or Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas are good value.

Thanks lads, shall see what cost those makes are from my local indy tyre place. If not mistaken got a quote for the Bridgestone Potenza RSC 225/40 18 w a couple months ago and he quoted £118 + vat
( wonder if he was drunk ) so non runflats should be considerably cheaper.
Am I right to presume the suspension geometry is not affected ?

I've never heard any mention of suspension geometry so I wouldn't worry about that smile

Took the plunge today and changed all the runflats to Falkens, ride instantly seemed nicer not so harsh and much quieter. Seems like the price of Falkens has shot up, may be they are in demand.
Total price for 4 was £432.
Also had to order the ripoff spare wheel kit from the stealers priced at £276.
Been an expensive puncture, just need to work harder to make up for it so the mrs has advised hehe.

The 276 is for the ripoff sparewheel kit from the dealers,
http://www.bmwcats.com/bmw/catalog/E92/50163/WA51+...
Rather have that in the boot, feel safer and the tyre people have an excuse for this also and will not fix a normal tyre after tyreweld has been used as their excuse is tyreweld is oil based so the repair will not stick well to the tyre.
Have to hand it to them, they will not fix runflats or after tyreweld has been used on normal tyres, so basically had no choice but to get the spare wheel kit otherwise I am back to square one.

Interesting - hadn't heard of any problems after using the tyre weld, that's a new one on me !

I can see the appeal of the kit, it just seems like a lot for what it is...

Main thing is that the Falkens are working well - I am waiting to wear out my RFTs then will go down a similar route smile

Yes the kit is very expensive for what it is however in for a penny in for a pound ( or 276 to be exact ) That was my intention also to run the RFT's however got that expensive puncture on sunday so that buggered my plans.

A whole other can of worms (and a bit late) but I eventually managed to get one of my RFTs repaired after initially being told it couldn't be done etc etc. The whole thing is a bloody minefield !

I'm waiting for my spare tyre kit to arrive. Bought one on ebay for £130.
E60 spare kit is £200 from BMW.
I'm going to get non runflats, and like the sound of these Falkens. Will check them out.

Have you got a link for that spare Knockinshop ? Is it similar to the one I am getting ?
Yes Dibbly its a sure way of the garages making money with little effort any excuse nowadays so they do not have to fix. Saying that I can see their point as one pointed out, they cannot tell if the car has been run for 2 miles on a puncture or 50 so they cannot really tell how far deteriorated the tyre is ie how far the side support has collapsed.

Hehe interesting read, so your determination payed off at the end.
I have also had a tyre leaking from the rim on my Berlingo (non alloys)
Brand new wheel it was as some bugger done a hit and run on the wheel arch so tyre and rim was changed, they sanded the rim and it seemed to cure the problem up to a point but it still needs topping up more than the rest of the wheels.
Regarding the Falkens I have to suss out what tyre pressure suits the car best as garage bloke slightly overinflated them as he said BMW guide is always on the low side. Not convinced about his theory so have to keep an eye and have a longish drive to see.

OK thanks knockinshop, collected my spare today. Pleased with it, nice fit and the clips make it a secure fit at the back so no rattling I hope.
