335i - 1 turbo or 2?
Discussion
Just read on evo that the 335i now comes with one turbo instead of two, anyone know why?
Is it because they were worried that 'mapped' and tuned 335i's were going to steal sales from the M3?
Have there been problems with the twin turbo 335i?
Is the single turbo engine as tuneable as the twin turbo?
Is this enough questions?
Anyone who can shed any light on this will be on my Christmas card list

Correct.
The 335i is now being fitted with the single twin-scroll turbo N55 engine as opposed to the previous twin-turbo N54 engine.
Largely, it's down to emissions regs, as per usual, the N55 has much lower C02 figures, and is fitted with valvetronic too. Engine is slightly lighter too.
As for tuning, well, a few tuners in the USA are already looking into it, but it will probably be a little while yet before commercially availble tunes will go on sale.
