Hi all,
I'm looking for a bit of help, I'm going to be buying a 7 series with a budget of £15-£20K,
I think i'm after a 730d, does anyone know what the mpg is? also are there many major differences upgrades from an 03 car to an 06 car as these seem to be the year I would be able to get? has there been any facelifts etc?
many thanks

You should easily be able to get a late 05 early 06 for your budget.
MPG will be over 30 mpg on the diesel, and yes buy the comfort seat option as it makes a world of difference.
Try to get the lowest mileage you can but the 3 litre diesel is good for 200k if serviced properly.
DO NOT BUY A SILVER ONE!

If so it is because you will look like a chauffeur on a day off.
You won't look like a chauffuer on a day off in a Silver E65 7 series if you run on 22 inch wheels and lower it a tad and do a quad exhaust conversion
If you're feeling really flush, you can stick on a Wald kit on it as well for high end exclusivity !
Cheers, Dennis!

Yep, I along with many others are BMW modifiers and a E65 7 series is one of those BMW's that's hardly ever modified. However take a look through the recent day we all had at Brooklands and the 7 series of one of us there

Of course, the BMW 'purists' will now probably feel faint headed and walk around in a daze mumbling incoherently!
But I, along with other BMW enthusiasts who like to be different, certainly don't think the modified 7 is remotely approching 'pimp' !
ETA - and not forgetting that some of the major well known BMW Tuner's themselves offer 22 inch wheel options as well!
Cheers Dennis!

Actually, if you use high quality suspension kits and some of the well recommended Coilovers, you will notice perhaps a 15-20% change in ride quality, if that! Sweeping generalised statements like that do make many of us modifiers chuckle!
As posted, if the likes of Hartge offer 22inch wheels options for the 7 series, you can be guaranteed the ride quality will be very very supple and close to original sizing and the company directors and well heeled clientele who buy them and use them do not post up how their backs have been jarred!
Go for a drive/ride in a well modified car using high quality components and then be prepared to be very surprised!
As for colour coding under the bonnet, it provides a contrast and is also representative of BMW Performance, which uses Yellow as a trade mark identification feature. Perhaps you aren't a BMW enthusiast really!
