Had a search around but couldn't find anything conclusive.

I have an e46 318 from 2002. It has the multi function steering wheel which houses the phone function buttons.

I'm pretty sure my phone is not phone-prepped. Has anyone 'activated' the option through retro-fitting the kit?

I want to keep it original. I have seen the after market possibilites and they don't really appeal. I just want to be able to take calls while on the move. Making calls without touching the phone would be nice but maybe not that easy to do, not essential either.

Thanks,

Vee

In which case get a Parrot CK3000 and Connects2 interface for your steering wheel controls.
Effectively you can take calls using the steering wheel controls.
You can't scroll through your phonebook to MAKE a call in the way the BMW system will let you but much easier and cheaper to fit the Parrot.
