hi everyone..
im hopeing someone will be able to help and put me out of my missery...
a year and a half ago i bought a 318 from auction which drove through...when later inspecting the car, the barrel was smashed, and i had to start the car by push starting it so i could take it home. once i got it home, i replaced the barrell and key from another 318....
all it seems to do tho, is when u put the key in, it turn the ignition lights on, but then nothing happens...the car doesnt even turn over....i lost my patiance and ever since it has been parked up...
could somewone please tell me whats up, or what i need to do...

thanks

You will need the EWS module and key chip, and the ECU it's coded to.

you should be able to take the chip out of the old key, and put it in the new one.
it looks a bit like a grain of rice wrapped in thin copper wire

Thanks pal...does the ews, ecu and chip all have to be from the same car? Also the local scrappy has a BMW in, but the ecu has a different code on it to the 1 that is in myn now...Does that make a differance?
Thanks once again!!

if you take the chip out of the old key, and shove it in the new one, the car won't even know the barrel has been changed, the chip, send/recieve, ews box and ecu will still all be in sync
