Hi guys, i have the car mentioned in the topic, and was wondering if there is a way you can attach ipod connection to it (all be it, not done by me!!)??

Anyone tried and succeeded / tried and failed?

Thanks guys!

Best option is to buy an Intravee http://www.intravention.co.uk and Alpine KCA-420i as this allows full control of the iPod via the screen and steering controls. Easy DIY install too. It's a bit pricey but you can always sell it afterwards !

The system isn't designed to support this kind of connection natively but there is a BMW module you can get that will do the job. Similar to the other offerings it replaces the cd changer which is the most you can do with this setup

In my experience, the intravee system is by far the best ipod integration option for E46, E39, E53 and E85 with navigation - I had it in my X5 and it was excellent. Have a look on X5 drivers forum as it is a very common modification on there, and really simple to self install.

...not sure what your concern is - I've also got BMW aux input in my Z4 which is OK but no ipod control. I've used the Dension system as well and not been that impressed (regular drop-outs and lock-ups)

Regards, Gary

Sorry, i thought the Alpine product uyou listed was a head unit so i was initially dead against it!! IO suppose the bit that makes it appealing is the fact you can take it out and slap it in any other car you own - which is a huge huge perk.

I may be swapping for an M5 (same age) at some point so supposedly i could use this set up for that
