I've an E46 330d, and fancy a go with the whole re map thing...

Has anyone had it done to theirs, noticed much difference or had any problems??

Basically looking to find a reputable specialist, rather than going to some back street garage. I can do without problems!!!!!!!!! smile

Thanks guys, Oh and cost too!! thankthankthanks.

speak to DMS, they're very good, abit more than some of the others but you're paying for experience and more importantly someone that actually knows their trade inside out

Hi there,

I've mentioned this on this forum before, but take a look through the BMW magazines and BMW forums where users like myself have re-mapped their Diesels

You'll see the usual, highly reputable specialists mentioned for the most part by owners, give each a call and discuss what you'd like and like anything look out for good customer service and feedback of knowledge to you. That'll help you narrow down who you'd like to have your car modified by.

Yes, the re-map is WELL worth it, increased power and torque, better MPG and driveability.

In a quick nutshell, you'll soon see the names like Advanced Auto Technik, A-L Tuning, E-maps, DMS mentioned. there's a couple more like Paramount Performance and B&W Chiptune.

Cheers, Dennis!

+5mpg is quite common.
It does depend on how you use the extra power though.
I've always said to anyone they should think of it in terms of efficiency, so you get more out for what you put in, plus the top edge will be extended, so you now how the choice of burning more fuel and getting even more power if you want.

I had my 330d re-mapped by Simon of E-maps in Walsall.
Mine was a 2004 model with 204bhp, it was re-mapped to produce 250bhp, also the torque was increased to 510Nm.
I was impressed with the improved acceleration, and it was much more responsive.
I averaged around 42mpg, including some high speed Autobahn runs.
Simon sometimes does group Re-maps, details can usually be found on BMWLand.
As I went to Simon the cost was £275, I believe he charges around £345 if he has to travel.
I considered it money well spent.

I would talk to Evolve your car in Luton , www.evolveyourcar.com

I had my Z3m done there, they have done a mates 535D to 350 bhp , very good guys and know there stuff.

They also offer an option where you can load and remove the chip your self using a switch which is handy for warrentys or anything like that.

Highly recommend them.

Another e-maps fan, although not a 6 pot d, he has done a good job on my 118d, would say there wasn't a massive difference in mpg when doing an economical runs but was a bit more noticable when pressing on.

Simon at E-Maps remappped my previous E39 530dT manual at 70,000 miles; it was sold at 129,000 with no issues. I just wished that I had contacted Simon when the car was new.
Current E61 LCI 530dTA was done at about 4000 miles at the end of 2007. Today the mileometer will click over the 100K mark; again no issues with the remap and absolutely no regrets.
Mid range torque is significantly improved which is key for overtaking with the auto box. Fuel consumption is very good. Overall average is between 35 and 36mpg. Enthusiastic driving on long runs will see this up to 39-40mpg. Around town in winter this drops to 27-28mpg.
Spend the money, you will not regret it!

I am looking to remap my 320d ..... currently looking at Superchips Bluefin or Evolve (with their switch) as I want the ability to revert to standard.

I have looked at Tuning Boxes but am worried they are not as good for the engine in the longer term than a comprehensive remap.

I had my 330d remapped by CNL Remapping (http://www.cnlremappingltd.co.uk).

He is member on an e46 forum that I am part of, www.e46zone.com. He has done a number of cars on there, and all with great results. The price is a lot lower than what DMS etc charge, and results are very very good from my experience.

Well worth a look.

I found the performance excellent following the map (was not bad before), and overall to be honest the mpg isup by around 2mpg (would be more, but I drive with a heavy foot).

Did mine at 37,000.

from 184bhp to about 210 with SUPERCHIPS

now on 124,000.

gearbox £1700 at 115,000

otherwise pretty faultless, just got back from Le Mans, didn't bother to service it or anything before the trip, just load up and go. 120mph easy all day long and 45mpg on the autoroutes.

I had a 330d remapped a few years back - the gains were amazing, up to 254 bhp 512 nm. Fast.

Simon @emaps has done two BMW's for me and both cars got exactly the power uplift he claims on his website.
Both cars were dynoed at a well known establishment by a PH member.
