I don't really have a choice of company car... and the dog likes his comforts, so a new 5 series Touring it is - probably a 535 diseasal as I'm limited with emissions, too!

Anyone with a new 5 series have any suggestions on what's worth specifying and what's a waste of money?

if it is your own hard cash and you are looking to have a spec that minimises depreciation then for your f11 535d you are going to need, bigger wheels, leather, nav and bluetooth as a must in a sombre colour. additionally consideration should be given to ipod connect, tinted glass, sport steering wheel

They only come in sombre colours! Colour chart's as dull as dishwater IMO. Leather's standard isn't it as is Nav and Bluetooth? No M Sport spec I'm aware of yet either.

My local friendly dealer sales contact is also in the local BMW CC and has given me a list (surprisingly short) of the kit he reckons would make the car better without hitting the P11D too much. Lots of hype in the press I reckon, but I've yet to drive one, which is the acid test. I have an E60 with a huge spec, including the dynamic drive, active steering jobby to compare it to, which I now run on none RFT's. That will take some beating, but I am expecting good things from BMW.

Fortunately, a local dealer has got in touch very recently regarding my experssion of interest in the Touring, but I may need to change my car before the Touring is available (1k/month going on my A6 avant).

New 5 Series Touring in M Sport spec starts delivering in September.

Looks a lot more promising. The dealer has offered a long term F10 530d for me to test too.
