Tow bar options for E60 5-Series?

My dad is considering buying a 2007 (post-facelift) 525D, but a stumbling block is that he needs a tow bar and the quote he's received for a BMW one from the dealer is ~£2000! Has anyone got an experience of aftermarket alternatives for an E60 5-Series and were there any problems with the vehicle electrics? Thanks for any help you can give.
