Got an email from my dad about the tyres on his 535d:

OK one for your forum. I have replaced the tyres on my car which were worn, and the one with the bulge. It was noticed however that the nearside rear has worn at twice the rate of the offside rear. BMW say no problem exists, but the guys at Kwik fit are telling me that mine’s is the third they have had this month with similar wear patterns. All tracking and alignment check out OK.

Any ideas?

[I didnt want to be as blunt as to point out he's quite portly and will tend to sit on the offside with the steering wheel being there and all, so its bound to break traction slightly less. Thats my only theory thus far though...]

He doesn't live in Milton Keynes, does he?

It's not uncommon to wear out the n/s compared to the o/s if you enjoy hooning around and your journeys involve plenty of right-handers and/or roundabouts.

He'd have to be a salad dodger of biblical proportions for his mass to have that much of an influence on tyre wear.
