As I already have perfromace cars I am thinking about a frugal daily drive. I have had BMWs in the past and have always been pleased with them.

I currently have a SEAT Leon 2.0 TDI SPort and its a nice car to drive but horrible inside so I thought I would jump back onto the BMW Band wagon

I am thinging about the 118D although the 120D could be an option

What I am after is real world fuel consumption figures

Mods - please correct my heading typo

All depends how you drive as is always the case, my extreme's vary from 44 (if towing about 700kg at a decent pace) or up to 58 when on the usual eco run (60mile commute @ around 60-65mph).

We have a low mileage 57 plate 118d m sport hatch that will be for sale within the next week if it's of any interest to you?

It's doing 41mpg average and 99% of that is in town in the rush hour commute

I have seen over 60mpg on a steady run out of town

I get mid 40s out of my 123d on a 20 mile e/w rural A road commute, so a 118d should be well over 50mpg on that same journey. Make sure you get a facelift model (from around mid 2007) with the efficient dynamics though as they seem quite a bit more economical, and also look at the log book to make sure its one with 119g/km emissions, as the earliest ones with efficient dynamics were something like 121g/km so fell in the ~£120 a year tax band rather than the £35 one.

My other halves 118d (2009) does 50mpg day in day out on a quick 110 mile daily commute, my 120d manages 44 on shorter more stop start commute.

Cheers for the input

I am looking at min 08/57 models with 119 so they will fall into the £30/year bracket

My 59/Dec09 118d manual is giving only 38-40 mpg.
This is for a 34 mile per day commute - 8 miles stop start traffic, 26 miles free flowing motorway at 90 leptons.
It has only done 5k miles so expecting this to improve somewhat.
