BMW 3 series touring 2007/2008/2009 models

The wife will be replacing her Ford Focus next year with probabily a 3 series touring. She will pob go for a d rather then an i. Maybe a 320d, 325d but prob not the 330d as its too expensive to buy and the mpg will not be as good as the smaller engines.

I was wondering if anyone here has a touring and what they think about their experiences with the car. How have you found the servicing and costs and how good/bad are they? Any issues with the cars?
