idrive freezing

Has anybody had problems with their idrive freezing for a few seconds as in loosing the radio & phone then it comes back? I have sent it into the dealer 4x times now & they have swapped out the ccc chip 3x times but i still have the problem even if i have no phone paired or satnav disk in, they have also updated the firmware but no joy? Seems worse when the weather is hot.

Any thoughts as it would seem BMW just swap bits out & not diagnose the problem..

Had the same on mine, but a software update cured it

I suspect in some of these cases the unit gets too hot - thatcertainly seems the common factor with mine. Maybe ask the dealer if there is a Hot Country spec unit with better built-in fan ? . You know you can re-boot by pressing volume, < and > at the same time.

Yes I know you can reboot but that does not get rid of the problem, it's going back into the dealer for the 5th time as it loses it's radio for a few seconds every track or so which is a tad annoying especially when BMW have already charged me for fixing it!
5th time lucky?? We shall see...
