Seen on http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=408...

And for once at a BMW launch there's the M Sport shots on there too, due for launch Q2 FY11

I'll sit back now and wait for the Clarkson fanboys to question it's very existence....... hehe

Looks better than the current model, wouldnt get one myself (dont need one rather than fear of persecution) and more importantly bet they will sell well.

The amount of X1s ive seen around here is quite staggering, the old 'Put a BMW badge on a dog st and it will sell' springs to mind smile

hehe yes, I've got one so I know what you mean.

I'm not blind to it's faults so I do hope there's an improvement in the ride, otherwise a general update will be good as the current model is now the oldest in the BMW range.

For some reason I thought I'd read that the X3 had been dropped due to the X1... obviously not.

So X1 uses the 3 series platform, X5 is the X5 - what sort of size is the X3?

I'm due to change the X5 next year, was considering an Audi Q5 as fancy something smaller. This may just change my mind, looks well for a change

The new X3 is fractionally smaller than the old X5.

From a platform perspective it's mechanics that are used not chassis as such the X3 uses some of the new (unreleased) 3 series tech too. So the old X3 is actually substantially bigger than both the 3 series and the X1 - the new X3 is only a bit bigger, but still gives the tangible size difference positioning it in the middle of the X1 and X5.

Here's a shot comparing it(still disguised, as 'teaser' shot) to the old X3.

Doesnt look much different to be honest, more of a facelift than a new car, even though it is a new car!

Be a silly price no doubt going from what they knock the Kia esque X1's out at.

It's a big improvement though that is not hard as IIRC the original X3 had a facelift while it was still in nappies. Up against tough competition in the Q5 which there are loads of around....may explain the M Sport from the start.

No, the M sport isn't due until next year - the SE will be here in October. They've just put pictures up of the M Sport which I've not seen before at a launch. Certainly the new 5 series M Sport has only just been shown.

Ah didn't read the OP correctly! As you say never seen pics before from launch. Massive market for these, we have an X5 which is a great car but it's a big unit which puts a lot of people off I think. That and the price!

Lots of Q5 around? Not in the bleak NW mate, I rarely see them. I've had a quick look on AT website and £35k for a dealer stock 4 cyl 2.0 diesel, I'm not surprised I've not seen many. I hope BMW get the pricing a little better on the new X3 because I like the look of it.

We there are plenty around in London, there again there seem to be loads of brand new Rangie's around too. Some people are recession proof!

£30k for the entry X3 2.0d SE so I hope it's good competition for the Q5 (not that I'm a fanboy or anything....) as the X3 is faster, cheaper and has less emissions over the Q5.... tongue out
