Hello all,
putting new discs and pads on the front of the E38 this weekend. Anything to look out for or it is the usual arrangement?

Nope, its all straight forward. only gremlin could be removing the little allen screw holding the disk on. it depends if someone previous damaged the head.

Is it a normal allen key or some odd star key?

Its just a normal allen key. 5 or 6 mm i think. You should get new allen screws with your new disks. I get my disks from German & Swedish, Brembo ones, with Textar pads. Worst case you can drill the head off.
