bmw z3 - talk to me
Discussion
now i keep thinking of different options to replace the mk1 mx5 as a fun car, budjet up to about 6k max. the z3 has just sprung to mind as could be what i am looking for. Something a bit quicker than the mx and fun to drive.
so would a z3 fit the bill ? a 2.8 manual perhaps?
whats the issues with these? are they good to drive? running costs etc etc? insurance costs?
would only be a fun car for maybe 3k miles per year.

if i was to get a z3 i would get a late 3.0 manual. how much fun do you want?
i'm sure when i was looking that you could get one for around 6k.

Had a 2.8 (maybe 3.1?) manual as a weekend rental once, when the Chim(p) let me down.
Complete dog. Not fast, or even 'sporty', and tramlined so badly you didn't dare 'push it'. The Chimaera was far faster, simply because you could 'press on', and the MX-5 was far more fun.
I wouldn't.
