BMW mechanic wanted for m62 engine, tyne and wear
Discussion
Hi All,
Been lurking for a while now, however the time has come to ask for help/advice in finding a BMW independant or mechanic in tyne and wear...i require someone to set up the vanos timing on my m62 engine. I have the cam locking tools, but dont have the vanos setup tools, rather than buy them myself i would rather just pay somebody to do it. Cash will be paid, no reciepts.
Maybe i should add that the engine is in a 2002 range rover. If can recomend some one that would be great, i can be contacted at boblydon@blueyonder.co.uk ( dont want to put my phone number on open forum ).
Thanks for any help in advance

Why do you not just rent the Vanos setting tools?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I did think about doing that, however the cost to hire including delivery etc is in the region of £200 for the week, i would far rather pay that money to someone to do the job ( or at the least put it towards the cost if it was done in a garage ).
If a BMW or Range Rover tech who worked in a dealership and borrowered the said tools for the weekend, and came to do the job, i dont think that £ 200 cash in pocket for a mornings work is bad at all, i would strip it down and refitt it all.
Likewise even in an independant who charges £ 50 per hour, even it it took 6 hours to do the whole job, in theory i would get the job done proffesionally for an extra £ 100.
The job does not look to difflecult to do, probally more fiddely, but like everything, it's easy if you know how and have the correct tools and of course if you have done it several times it's easier again.
Hence preferring to pay a proffessional.
