I am looking to change the pads in my 2003 540 as i have cooked the ones in it. I dont know what they are as they were in it when i bought it.

It is for general road abuse and the odd ring trip.

Any recommendations? What are EBC like? im not sure if they do the yellow stuff ffor the 540 but they do red stuff. I had yellows on my supra and they worked well.

Got yellows on my M5, work well. Fair bit of dust, but its just an excuse to clean your car a bit more!

Pagid's OEM equivalent work very well indeed IME. My first choice compared with EBC for road use, anyway.

When I got yellow stuff for my 540 (e34) they were not listed on any site including EBC's own site, turns out they are just e36 M3/merc 190 pads. I phoned up an ebay place and ordered over the phone to get the correct ones. Perhaps it's a similar story for the e39 pads?

Anyway I've tried all sorts of pads and yellowstuff are pretty good for the praice and performnace, don't get fooled by people who haven't tried them since 5 years ago etc saying they are crap. The are pretty good these days.

Hope this helps,

Dunc.

I put Pagid pads and discs on the front of mine, Then got shouted at by my local indy for fitting them. They do seem a bit dodgy after a few santa pod runs and a few stops from the legal limit.

Will see how bad they are in a few weeks.
