Fairly Urgent Help Needed X6 3.5d

Hi
I have just driven to South of Spain from UK and oil level warning light came up as we arrived at destination, having left the manual at home, not sure exactly what oil grade I should be using, also should the fact that the oil level light having come on be of concern as it has only done 8000mls including trip and was purchased new in March ? Any thoughts would be very welcome.
cheers

Use the SatNav to find the nearest BMW dealer and ring BMW Emergency Service and see if you can get someone that speaks Spanish to speak to the dealer's parts dept for you. I did something similar when I had a battery problem with my M3 in Switzerland a few years ago.
As an aside checking oil before a long journey like that is definitely something you should do along with tyre pressures etc. Despite what the service manual says I'm also a massive advocate of changing the oil after the first two or three thousand miles.
