OK question here, I have never had an auto before but have read on tinternet that you should change your autotransmission box oil to prolong its life even if its a sealed for life unit?
If so how often time wise & how often milage wise?
Can BMW Main dealer do this for you?

If you dont how long can you go for until they fail and would that fail be terminal meaning youd need a recon auto box or a new auto box.

Next whats the cost for the autotransmission oil change ?
What is the cost for a new autobox fitted cost? Basically to know what the difference is and go from there?

DO most owners change their cars if their autobox is on the way out? How do you know if its on its way out?

Some reading here. The consensus being to do it right, or not at all.

I don't think a main dealer will do it, as they'll just tell you it's sealed for life also.

The oil you are supposed to use is some Esso LT atf, and there should be a sticker on the gearbox with the details. If you are changing it, make sure the correct stuff is used.

I'm sure it's pretty expensive stuff to, might be looking at 80-100ish quid for a fluid, filter and gasket swap
