Don't seem to hear much about these. What are they like, such as fuel/mpg and how tunable are they?

Are they direct injection?

Also does the diesel engine ruin the handling or is it ok still?

That engine was only found in LHD E30's and E28's, which is probably why you do not hear so much about them.

Never driven one so cannot comment on handling, but looking at short engine weights 131.5 kgs for M21 v's 119kgs for M20 it's fair to assume handling will not be as balanced as a M20 E30 for example.

Direct mechanical injection with a silly priced diesel pump

Power wise they were circa 114bhp and 155ibs/ft of torque.

Tunability.

Cheers, didn't realise they were a non UK model, but would explain why I haven't seen them about. Did they do an e30 diesel for the UK market?

There was never an E30 diesel sold in the UK.

It wasn't until the E36 came out that a diesel was offered in the range.

There is sometimes the odd left hand drive one knocking about Ebay, could be worth a look if you really want one!

They used that engine in a Lincoln Continental. Either a 5.0 V8 and a 2.4 Diesel...
