Just been putting in some details into the BMW Warranty site of cars I'm looking at to buy as it checks the mileage against BMW records (Good tip wink) and it seems to offer the chance to purchase a Warranty on a car I know has expired.
Have they changed the rules now and allow un warranted cars to be warranted??

If so that changes the whole 2nd hard market and makes a lot of M5's with expired warrantys more appealing.

Unfortunately no. Once teh car has gone outside the official dealer network and the warranty has lapsed, then it's gone for good.

This is what is says on the Warranty selection page.

"As you have chosen to purchase a Warranty product and your vehicle has no existing warranty cover, you need to confirm the below before you are able to proceed.
I can confirm that my vehicle has been fully serviced in accordance with the manufacturing recommendations/intervals and has not been modified in anyway.

I accept that my warranty/assistance package will commence on 02 October 2010 and will not cover any pre-existing faults or defects that occur prior to the warranty inception."

I know it used to be once expired, That was it. (I once didn't buy an individual e39 M5 with fantastic leather and paint combo and 14,000 on the clock because the waranty had expired by just a couple of weeks). But maybe Mondial as its now not wanting to miss out on the aftermarket warrantys.

I thought that too.... but if you look on the bmw site, in the financial services section:

BMW said:
If the warranty on your new or Approved Used BMW is coming to an end or has expired, BMW Insured Warranty can help to protect you against the unexpected cost of repairs and replacement parts.

With a choice of cover levels and a range of options, including BMW Insured Emergency Service, you can tailor your BMW warranty protection to your own individual needs.
...
BMW Insured Warranty offers a choice of three levels of cover:

Comprehensive: our highest level of protection, covering the majority of your BMW's components.
Named Component: mechanical and electrical breakdown cover for a wide range of your vehicle's components.
DriveLine: the basic level of warranty, covering the main engine, transmission and drive-train components. Terms and conditions apply.
I assume an "insured warranty" is different from a "warranty"?

I have just called them and it can now be renewed even if it has lapsed( he said for the last 3 years this has been the case)
So any BMW can have a BMW warranty as long as it has full service history and is under 100k

Brilliant!

As long it has a full BMW service history, inc coolant & brake fluid changes.

Any non BMW history before or after taking out the warranty will void it.

It does not have to be BMW history but it has to be full history, after the warranty starts it has to be BMW serviced.

Does anyone have a full list of expected Services needed, its quite tricky nowadays as the computer decides when to service so low milage cars can go quite some time between visits.

You may wish to double & triple check that (& get it in writing).
Remember that warranty sales dept are not the same people as those that will accept or decline a claim.
