Guys, another Q for you.

I am looking for some new wheels for my car, I bought the SE model cause I wanted comfort rather than the hard suspension of the M Sport. However, the wheels are pretty shoddy IMO and most people that I talk too!

I spoke to BMW about geting some M-Sport alloys but they were going to charge about 3.5k for them, thats just redic IMO......

Duno if it will work but ill try to upload a pic of the car / wheels.

Do you know any good places where I can purchase a decent set from or does anyone have any that they are looking to off load?

Thanks in advance smile

There is a 19" upgrade for E92 SEs. Look very smart - normally seen on 335s.
Personally I think that M sport ones don't suit the SE.

Keep a look out on eBay and E90post classifieds

Nice one, I'll keep an eye on that, I've also found a kit that looks pretty smart with some nice looking wheels on the Autovogue website its a Hamann Kit, looks pretty mint although it has two rear spoilers, one on the boot and one on the window that look rather tacky....

These guys sell genuine BMW wheels as well as high-end brands like Alpina and Hartge.

BMW Style 230 19" are what you want for an SE but then I may be biased wink

i would go for the 19 inch SE alloys.

To me M Sport alloys on an SE rarely work.

Thanks guys, they all look pretty smart, have to have a good look at them all cause the boss wants a house and this might be my last ditch attempt to get my car looking the way I want before she stamps her feet lol

I think the suspension is the same, but the SE will be a lot cheaper to buy.

I was under the impression that the M-Sport suspension is a lot firmer for better handling and grip, however in being firmer then you lose out on the comfort.

I'm pretty sure that this was the case...

If you want a more comfortable ride and better handling then ditch the runflats.

I must admit I thought the runflats would be awful having read everyone's views on them, but tbh I don't have a problem.....yet. I don't notice the difference between normal and rfs. I'll wait for the winter!

I'm really looking forward to winter, I've heard so much about BMW's in the snow I cant wait.

Last ear I had an MGF and used to take it on car parks to play with it. obviously wasnt a powerfull as the BM but so much fun, hope this car gives me as much pleasure in the snow as that did smile

Despite what you've heard you're looking forward to it??!!??

Ours were nigh on useless last winter in the snow although of course the level of snowfall was exceptional. If there is more of the same likely this year (which I guess is unlikely) then I'd suggest winter wheels/tyres.

Couldn't get my E60 (which is an auto) off the (slightly sloping) drive at all and got our E90 (manual) stranded. Too annoying to be fun.

No, the M Sport runs as standard on sports suspension - slightly lower, different springs and struts.

There are exceptions to this though

(a) you can add sports suspension as an option to SEs, so some SEs have sports suspension.
(b) the 335 models (and maybe the 330 versions too) of the SE have sports suspension as standard.

BM Autosport are worth checking out for wheels, although I think they mainly supply E46 models.

Agreed, had a few sets from Mark, always good wheels at a sensible price. He caters for the E90 range. If you go up in rim size to 19 and stick with R/F's the ride will be abysmal. 19's with standard tyres give a more comfortable ride than 18's with R/F's

my wifes z4 coupe had 18s with runflats - hideous things. Went to 19s with regular tyres and it was like a different car!
