X5 sat-nav DVD read error

The sat-nav on my 2009 X5 has just about stopped working. It comes up with a "Cannot read from DVD" error. Ejecting it and reinserting it makes it work for a few minutes then it stops again. Anyone know of a quick fix rather than having to waste half a day taking it to the dealer?

I had the same on my 2008 X6 although reinserting the DVD didn't make it work again. The solution was a new DVD unit under warranty.

Happened to my M6 - new dvd player via warranty, think it was around £400.00.
