Right guys ive had my eye on a 535d for the past month and hope to make a purchase soon and get a remap, ive heard figures of 320-340bhp after a remap.

With this remap, what performance cars do you think it will destroy with ease or keep up with??, not so much 0-60 but more mid range punch 30-70, 50-70 etc.., (80 mph+ on a track of course).

Has anyone got any stories of having a little play with a 535d which has been remapped?

No soot - the particulate filter works very well.

This thread is fail.

Besides, mid range has less to do with HP than torque.

A freind of mine had an impromptu traffic light grand prix in his mapped 535d against the Starship Enterprise, and funnily enough, the mapped diesel was quicker. Just goes to show that even warp drive is no match for a mapped turbocharged paraffin stove.

I have a standard 535d Touring (LCI model) and it's plenty quick enough for UK roads (I've had a few 911's, Elise. Caterham etc).

It'll do the m25 crawl (best in normal Drive mode), but given a little sapce will swallow up the miles and in sport mode it's fairly swift.

On the twisties size does count against but that's not the point.

The torque allows for swift progress, the biggest problem is having the opportunity to use the perfornmance safely.

I have to say i have never really understood this concept of "destroying" via actually just accelerating a bit faster?? Do you really get excited by being about 3 car lengths in front of another car before you both have to stop anyway at the next (delete as appropriate) 1) traffic light 2) roundabout, 3) dawdler, 4) horsebox / caravan, 5)speed camera, 6) policeman ???

I'd a remapped 535d and it kept up with a 350z no probs - much to the horror of its owner.

Great all rounders. Loved my two to bits.

Good friend has a 335d mapped and I have to say it goes almost as well as my 550i although top end I think id out pull him. The only down side is the serious boost and diesel pressures being needed for this performance. The thought of buying one with 70k plus miles worried me enough to get a petrol engine car. I know others will say theirs has been fine but anything moddified that much must have an effect on the reliability!
As for real world performance, I doubt much will embarrise you between the traffic lights but that can be said about alot of cars really.

TBH - if you want galactic performance by an M5 as we all know they are fast when driven hard. 535d sport is a fast tractor and if you buy knowing that then it should fit the bill well. wink

Had someone in a 535d M5 touring lookalike try it on the otherday - lets just say good old petrol power won the day.

M5 badges, quad exhausts - I think it had the side vent things too. Didn't spend too much time studying TBH as it was in my way and I wanted to move on..

The VXR8, not the Dakar - which indeed would of been all at sea in a corner.

Well latest bit of news is that the Bloodhound SSC project has been cancelled as apparently a chipped 535d can achieve 1000mph on any given piece of dual carrageway.

Though concerns have been expressed that the vehicle chosen for the attempt doesn't have the pro navigation and therefore might be harder to sell afterwards.
