Hi there,

I'd say the usual suspects apply. When you say 'best' this invariably means the high quality and well tested and R&D'd brands and products. So this would mean brands like (in no particular order) Magnaflow, Hayward & Scott, Milltek, SuperSprint, Eisenmann, Akrapovic (sp?), Tubi etc etc.

Also 'best' means different things, best for ? .. power? sound? price? looks?!

Cheers, Dennis!

Bear in mind a turbocharged car will never have a nice exhaust rumble like a normally aspirated engine - the turbo(s) act as very good rotary silencers.

I mean ''best'' for: sound, power, lightness and built quality, in the order.

The X6 isnt turbocharged unless it is the "M" car I thought!

You will be lucky to find any of the usual suspects doing an exhaust for that car anyway I would have thought, almost certainly none been developed. Ot's unlikely any will give more power so as it's noise you are after, you will probably need to go for a weld-in rear box conversion with a universal type silencer from one of those manufacturers.

Not sure a sports exhaust will suit the style of the car though, it's not a performance orientated car.

Hiya

It's still very open ended, what's 'best' sounding to you may be rubbish sounding to another! what's 'best' built to another may be below par for you!

How much are you willing to pay ?! as you mention 'light weight' of the exhaust, then Akrapovic make titanium exhausts, which I believe are the lightest you can get, so are the 'best' for weight. I think a system from this manufacturer will be up in the £3000-5000 range.

You'll need to compare all the brands and manufacturers, get prcing and technical details and cross reference with your chosen list of criteria to see which are shortlisted. If there's a clear choice, then opt for it, if not, perhaps more research will help you decide.

I've heard and seen Eisenmann, Tubi and Hayward & Scott systems and I really like them! that said, I'd love an Akrapovic system if I had a petrol or M car!

Cheers, Dennis!

I know einsenmann and it's very good quality, I had one on my V8 M3...unfortunately neither them nor Akrapovic build any exhaust for the X6, at least my model.

The model I have is one made in small numbers at the beginning of this year, it has an ''M performance'' kit from the factory and apart a few goodies added to the standard X6 5.0 Ltrs it also has a wealthy 450 HP engine version, instead of the 405 of the standard version...

The New 50i is a twin turbo unit.
