Hi, As per the title really.

I know I can get a Remap from around £250 - £800 but what i want to know is, who produces the best map?

Has anybody tried a few different tuners maps on their car or has there ever been a shoot out between tuners on the same model?

I'm not looking at peak power achieved on a rolling road, I'm looking at best driveability, response, overal performance etc.

I have done a lot of reading and it seems many companies use generic maps imported from europe, then there are a few who produce their own.

I do not want to start a slanging match, just after some constructive reviews before I commit to anything.

Cheers.

If you pay more than 500 your being ripped off.

I know both Simon at Emaps and the Evolve chaps and would recommend both.

I'd be interested to know the answer to this too. Who provides the best warranty would also be interesting ?

Hah. Well that's that criteria sorted then! They do seem too good to be true for what some of them claim....I really can't imagine how the claims of standing up for anything BMW won't pay for being settled. You'd end up stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Mine's been to Evolve - they also do a Switch unit which is handy if you live miles from one of their locations and need to remove/reapply the map. I've not bothered with it but they still re-installed in FOC after mine had been in to the dealers. I've also heard good things about Simon at E-Maps and I THINK he'll come to you to do the remap but don't quote me on that.

Yes, Simon will come out and do it if you live close enough..he's Birmingham based, I think.

I had my 530d done about 70k ago by Simon and it transformed the car..faster, smoother and more economical. Best mod I've ever done to a car and have had no issues with it at all. He even came out for free to check that it hadn't been reset by accident by a dealer.

Can't remember the price..somewhere around £400 at the time, I think.

Out of interest how much more economical is it ? I've read this in marketing material but never quite believed it. Good to hear of real world experience. How many miles had your car done when you had it chipped ?

It had done about 80k. And it is on about 145k now.

I have a fairly heavy right foot and the consumption went from about 35 to 37mpg. I think what happens is that the gearbox doesn't have to change down so much as the torque is plentiful..most new passengers comment about the push in the back at low speeds, without the car seeming to be trying at all.
