Auto transmission

I am considering the purchase of a 535D, it has the desired spec. except that it does not have the sport transmission (flappy paddles and sport mode). I am not bothered about the paddles but believe that the control logic is different and that changes are sharper as are kick-downs etc. I drove the car and the transmission appear quite responsive and it does have steptronic mode. It seems a lot sharper than the auto box I had on my old E39 540i back in 2004. Is it worth hangin out for a spart box equipped car or is it just 'nice to have'.

Unless it's changed, moving the lever to the steptronic position is also Sport mode.
