As above really, doesn't sound like a V8, I'm considering removing the back box and welding a straight pipe in.
Anybody done this? Good? Bad?
Thanks
I still don't think it will sound like a V8 either - just louderAnybody done this? Good? Bad?
Thanks
I have in the back of my mind a comment I read (or heard) that when the V8's were introduced they deliberately configured the manifolds to make it sound less like a V8 in order to reduce the risk of upsetting the long term customers (used to the ripping silk of a nice sweet six) the last couple of 740/840 V8's I've heard with glasspack silencers didn't sound much like a V8 either - it didn't sound bad just not like you would expect a V8 to sound if you are expecting something along the lines of TVR/Rover/Buick off beat burble
I have a 1996 535 in for a new exhaust right now, when I got the car , some previous owner did the resonator delete but kept the back box, this sounded like you want yours to but for me far far too loud almost embarrassing at times so I'll be glad to get it back tomorrow with just a nice growl?
Yes, I see your point and I don't really want it obtrusively loud, just feel as stock it only really sounds nice at the very top of the rev range. I was looking for more of a 'rumble' something like a Stag perhaps? Just interested to find out if anyone her had gone down that route.
