Service intervals vary based on how the car has been driven - condition based servicing or CBS.

You will save a reasonable amount of money on fuel with the diesel but risk losing all the savings and more when the diesel fuel pump fails.

Better performance and driveability with the petrol V8, 3.0i not worth having unless its a school posemobile for the missus.

Both have good service costs if you dont use a Main Stealer as they assume you are loaded to run an X5.

On an '04, both will probably need front thrust arm and rear subframe bushes, both available in Powerflex and FAR superior with a lifetime warranty.

Nice one, I picked up my 04 3.0i Sport at the end of July. Rapidly approaching 10k in the thing already! Am very pleased with it, and am hoping that with some winter tyres on, it will see me through the next 4-5 months and get me to work and back over the Peak District. Hope you enjoy it!

How long does the turbo last generally or is it according to driving style? The X5 is near the top of my shopping list presently and I took a 04 3.0 diesel out for a test drive - very impressive!
