Hello people,
considering supercharging my E36 328is the car already had M3 chassis components when I purchased it including brakes, suspension, bracing and wheels. It has also had a full KDS alignment for fast road/track so all is good on the handling front. The engine is standard and the drivetrain consists of a fresh OEM clutch and a m20 lightened flywheel.
I have been considering different options in regards to improving the performance of the car and supercharging the engine came to mind. Now as far as I am aware supercharging may not be route for ultimate power but it will improve low to mid range power and retain 99% of the throttle response that is found with a N/A engine. The question is can this 'upgrade' be made in the DIY sense i.e using components from other manufactures/models to create a kit that will be suitable for M52B28 engine. I realize that some items will have to purchased of the shelve such a standalone fuel management etc..
I am fully aware that I could go out and purchase a E36 M3 3.0 or even a 3.2 EVO for the level of overall performance that I am looking for. However those cars come with what I like to call the 'M' tax i.e higher insurance, running costs and replacement component cost and due to this 'tax' I have been a slightly reserved in doing so. I would also love to create something just a little special I mean its not very often that one will see a decent 328is coupe on the road let alone one that has a few surprises to share.
So if anyone has any good web links to the subject of DIY supercharging or if you have had experience in this field yourself then please post up your suggestions/ideas/thoughts or drop me a email at lou556@gmail.com

many thanks,
Lewis

I would suggest a supercharged 328 would cost just as much to run as an M3. Insurance would also be difficult as it's been heavily modified. I'd say get an M3 and supercharge that hehe

Have a look in the tuning forum on Bimmerforums. There's quite a few threads running on turbocharging and supercharging.
