yes i would think its the switch over, my m3 is a 53 so would be the same tv, that doesnt work either, have a look over on m3cutters, and search digital tv upgrade, might bring up some info, or google it.

Hi there,

This topic has come up quite a bit recently here on PH and other BMW forums - have a search around, but basically,

1. Sounds like your area is now all digital. If you want to keep the BMW setup, then you can get the OEM BMW Analogue/Digital DVB-T tuner module and swap it with the now useless Analogue one you have. Be aware though, they hardly ever are available 2nd hand, and when they are, it's usually on Germany Ebay. One or two have popped up on UK ebay. They 'usually' are around £500-600 delivered. Brand new, I think they're upwards of £1000+. A very pricey option here.
I'm looking around for testing the very latest aftermarket DVB-T tuners to test with the E39/E46/E53/E38 cars with the same setup.

2. With regards to rear headrest systems. The el cheapo chinese units on Ebay are exactly that, cheap. Whilst 'quality' of some cheap unbranded chinese electronics has improved over the last couple of years, if you do go for any of the Ebay ones to save a few quid, just be 'prepared' in case they fail 6-9 months down the road and you have to 'buy again' - I'm not saying they 'will' fail, but compared to branded and high quality units, the likliehood is higher.

Also, rear headrests dvd players are old hat now... I'm currently working on developing rear seat entertainment systems that are the next generation products and solutions wink

Cheers, Dennis!
