Im expecting delivery of my new BMW 135i Coupe shortly.

Does anyone know who re-maps these cars? Plenty seem to do the earlier twin turbo cars but strugling with the latest single turbo engines. Before its suggested DMS still dont do them yet...Ive tried.

Thanks

I beleive your right. Saw an article on his (Will at p torque) wall when having my 330 done thursday, said that 'the new ecu is extremely diffcult to crack but Will has broke it by bypassing it' or something along those lines. I didn't ask him.

My only concern would be the photos of a 4 wheel drive car sitting on a 2wd dyno...

Won't that just result in it driving into the wall...?

Can't fault the work Evolve did on my M3 a couple of years ago. Here's a link to their work on x35i.

P Torque replied today to quote +50BHP and +80LB/FT

Sounds good to me although Ive asked a raft of driveability/reliability questions as its not all about the numbers.

Slightly nervous they say they are the only people doing these engines......why hasnt anyone else got there also like DMS or the like?

On another note £900 for a remap sounds a touch 'sudden' doesnt it!!!?

Edit ~ i jumped the gun with my post post below. The link relates to the original x35i. Apologies to all.........

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Evolve +70bhp and +100lb/ft and lower price.
Hard to understand P Torque saying they're the only ones mapping that engine when BMWCar magazine have published articles about alternatives. http://www.evo-s.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=3819&a...
I'm not associated with Evolve in any way but I, and other experienced M3 EVO drivers who driven my Evolve modified car, rate them very highly. I like the fact Evolve publish graphs of their results and appear more confident and open to scrutiny, regarding the gains from their converversions and maps, than their peers.
I've had 4 cars done with Will, and the remaps to my 330d and 330i have been fantastic. The drivability really does improve with quicker response and smoother power delivery. I do agree the price is very steep, try bargaining with him. Obviously because he's one of the first to crack the ecu puts him in a good position, but remind him of the others offering a remap.
Thanks Andy. good to hear from someone who's entrusted him with their car/s.
Ive already pitched him for a deal. Im not paying £900 regardless so no deal=no deal. Still cant believe they are the only game in town.......cant be surely??
You had any niggles being super critical on your diesel remap? Easy to get NA petrol maps spot on but turbo installations aredifferent. Temptation is there to wind on the boost and cross your fingers!
Absolutely fantastic job with my 330d, took it from 232 bhp and 399lb to 274/455. There where no downsides/niggles at all. I had my focus st done prior to that and this wasn't so good. The st before the map was fairly smooth but turbo kick was noticeable but post remap the turbo kick was huge, which made it hard to be smooth under half throttle. You basically could use the throttle for the first 50% and anything after that you just had to floor it as turbo came on full. He said it was down to having a small turbo. In his defence my friend had a bluefin on his which was similar but bit more progressive, so it could just be an st thing...
He will let you drive so if not happy you don't pay. I had mine took off the st after 6 months.
Funnily enough like you I had a Focus ST for 5 months or so in 2007. Had it mapped by Collins Performance in Stoke. Like you the boost wasnt progressive. Fast.....yes, smooth.......no. This is my concern for the 135i. If theres a drive before you buy policy that could do it.
Totally agree not smooth at all! But your 135i is smooth now so i'd thought it'd stay that way. You definately get a test drive, he's quite trusting really as you could just drive off when taking it for the test drive. Get him down to what your willing to pay and have it done!!!
Not really kept up with what's happening with the 135i but just looked on BMW's website and in their facts and figures section they refer to the car having an engine with a twin turbo! In fairness things like the fuel economy and emissions look to be more in keeping with the later single turbo engine so assume the reference to a twin turbo relates to the old model and someone's just forgotten to update that bit of the webpage?!
Not surprised by the cost, and that they're the only ones so far. Reading the posts on 1Addicts from the USA where some of the tuners there who are usually first with these things because of their bigger market, have been posting that they have been having some big issues getting their heads around the N55 engine ECU, as this is the first Valvetronic and turbo engine, and it even took BMW a number of years to get that working properly.
Personally I'd hang fire for a bit, especially on a brand new car, or buy from the USA where there are a few N55 tunes on the market.
Hi Laura
Thank you for the email.
I popped into my local dealer over the weekend (before receiving your reply) to get a brochure on the car. the brochure I got when I ordered quoted a Twin turbo engine. The brochure collected this weekend quotes a Single Turbo engine. Given your email confirming a Twin Turbo engine I am now really confused. Ive spoken to a specialist tuner who has quoted my engine will be an "N55" single Turbo unit.
Im sure the car will be fantastic regardless but given the £33,000 cost I would lke to know what engine I will be getting.
If it helps the car was ordered late August.
Regards
Elliott
Dear Mr Stiling
Thank you for your email dated November 6, 2010 in regard to the engine will be fitted to your new BMW 135i M sport.
After investigating I am pleased to confirm that the vehicle has a 6 cylinder twin turbo engine.
Thank you again for your email. I hope you enjoy your new vehicle when it arrives in December.
Yours sincerely
Hi
I have on order atthe moment a BMW 135i M Sport Coupe. Im a little confused as to whatengine exactly I am due to get. Your website and brochure suggests its a Twin Turbo engine yet a magazine article I have just read suggests its now a single Turbo engine. The car is due to be delivered new in December and I would like to understand exactlywhat engine I should expect to receive.
Thanks
Elliott Stiling
As I said in my earlier post, I've not really been following the evolution of the 135i so have there been any magazine articles and/or road tests featuring the single turbo engine in that model? Presumably you've seen something that makes you think they've adopted the single turbo engine in the 135i and to be fair I can see why that would make sense given the 3 series and 5 series are both using that engine rather than the twin turbo. However, interesting that the forthcoming M 1-Series coupe is going to stick with the twin turbo unit....
