320d Turbo

Hi all

Is the Garrett Turbo unit as fitted to a 2001 320d interchangeable with other Rover/Land Rover units?

Ive heard its the same as fitted to a contemporary Freelander TD4 for example?

I may have a potential failure on my 320d and it seems to me that BMW breakers/reconditioners want £100 more for a unit that fits a 320d vs what you can source from a Land Rover specialist!!!

Anybody able to confirm??

It's very tricky to tell, the part numbers changed quite regularly with little clues as to what was actually changed.

ie - I'm pretty sure your turbo would be a GT1749V, but some had vac controlled wastegates, others have an annoying electronic wastegate stuck on the side.

Not sure about the Freelander, but the Rover 75 / ZT uses the same basic engine, but different turbos.
