oil quantity

hello all ive just bought a 1997 323i to smoke around in for the winter and need to give it a service could someone tell me how much oil it takes, what oil you all use and is it a must to fit gen. bmw filter or will factor filters be ok

oh and what pins do i bridge to turn the service light off

I'm sure its around 6-7L of oil, you can get genuine bmw filters from euro car parts if you have one local. any decent 10w-40 will do fine.
