As above, wife has seen a 3-series cab in the local showroom and was just wondering what sort of discount I should expect as it's a pre-reg, pretty much fully-loaded cab in the colour combo that she wants. It will be a straight cash deal.

TIA

TBH, I don't see that happening. Assuming it's simply pre-reg, rather than having 1,000+ miles on the clock, if the OP gets more than £500 off he'd be doing well.

What the brand new list price of the car is minus 8- 10 % minus another 2-3% due to it being pre-reg.

+1. That would be typical of any dealerships i've tried.

Thats why i often cant see the value in going for a pre-reg. You can get 8-10% off a new car anyway, often a pre-reg car has options you dont want (or hasnt options you do want), you cant benefit from the preferential finance rates on new cars (and cash injections from BMW), and its likely to have had a load of people driving it.

Are we assuming the pre-reg car has a sticker price of £39K or that it had a £39K list price?

I was in an MB showrom shortly after the new C-Class came out. They had a pre-reg for sale - zero miles as it was in the showroom. The model that it was, was £28k but with all the options they'd dressed it up with meant a sticker price of £38k. I asked what the overall discount was and they said £500.

And its back to my point above, you should be able to get 8-10% off list price anyway, so that takes you back to around £39.5K - £40K anyway - and again, chances are the ex demo car has more options that the O/P wants anyway, so the O/P could probably get the exact car they want for the same price or less.

As others have said, I'll be surprised if you get more than £1k off it. More like a token gesture of £500 and a smile. If you don't buy it for that money then someone else will.

Good thing I asked as I was going to offer £30k with a spare set of wheels thrown in. Oh my, now that would've been embarrassing.....

Its only a discount in the same was as buying a second hand pair of shoes as opposed to a new pair would be at a 'discount'.

You're not comparing like with like if comparing new to used, so its not a discount per se.

Not much at all. Whats the exact model and spec you really want, as opposed to whats on this demo car?

What world do you live in? You wanted to pay 30k for a car that has a list of 44k and has already had 5k taken off for being a pre-reg. I suppose you would want 25k p/x for it after owning it for 3 years as well!

Roofas, I think you have never bought or even been in a BMW showroom if you think a 30%+ discount can be achieved!
