E46 318i transmission problems

Hi all,

I picked up the car last week, and would like some advice or suggestions on a possible problem.

I've noticed that when the car is up to temperature, I get a slight "thunk" when I change from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. It's not very loud and it's more of a sensation through the seat.

Also, when on the overrun at motorway speeds I get a slight vibration, almost as if I'm going over a rumble strip but not as harsh.

Are these related and are they anything to worry about? It's under warranty as I bought it from a dealer, so I'd rather get anything fixed before it runs out.

I asked this question on e46zone and reply I got related to a 'doughnut' on the rear prop/diff.

It's a 2002 manual saloon. I've looked into the 'donut' and it may be a possibility.

My first thought is that the bushes have gone but I await correction.
