My old 330Ci has given up the ghost at 127k miles.
It's in okay condition except the automatic gearbox has failed - it won't go higher than third. I gather it's c. £2,000 to replace - I can't justify that on a 2002 car with that many miles.
What do you reckon; scrap it or try to sell? If sell what do you think it's worth?

Instant £500 or so off!

I had mine rebuilt 30,000 or so miles ago by these guys

Based in Acton West London, so not sure how close you are to them.

Friendly free advice line as well!

3 days, and for me the job was done and I'm very happy ! I was charged £1250+VAT in 2007, so probably a touch more now I'd have thought.

Cheers, Dennis!

Why cant you? Why does the age of the car affect your ability to justify its repair? It's still worth at least £4000.

It would seem to be to be a no brainer to repair it unless you are confident that you can replace it for less than the cost of the repair with a car as good as yours.

Which I doubt you can.

Just fix it, but as said above you can do better than £2k.

there is a fantastic company in kent that do it in a day on my work truck for circa £1000 in august this year, i will try find them again, but they do advertise on ebay.

It is silly to think an 8 year old car with a broken gearbox is worth scrapping.
