E34 520i auto small problem, any help please?

Just bought a cheap run around an L reg 520i se auto. car is in mint condition with just 67k but she takes a good few turns to start, sometimes with a very small backfire. runs great apart from pulling away there is a very small hesitation if you give it a foot full. if you ease the throttle gently, it pulls away fine, but if you pull away normal you can feel it

cant find any air leaks, but i do have a constant clicking sound from a small connector near the maf that looks like its going to a one way valve.

any ideas please what could be up?
