Another 735i/740 Question
Discussion
Sorry if this has been asked a million times the search engine keeps timing out for some reason.
Never owned a BMW before, I'm looking for either the 735i or 740.
Is there much difference between the two models?
I know its not going to be great but what is the mpg.
What should I be looking for and staying away from?
what would you consider high mileage for these cars?
Reading things like £7k for gearbox worries me.
Thanks for any advice

Depends how you driveRound town 18-20 unless you spend a heck of a lot of time in traffic
On a run at M-Way Speeds 70 - 80mph - over 30 mpg easily achievable

Buy on condition not miles - Nikasil doesn't really apply anymore and it was probably PCV valves anyway in historical casesSeacrh for Tim Meeks Guides on the net

Mine has 110 K it's almost perfect has a tiny blemish on one of the rear arches and a small dink on the door - averages 27mpg and is a generally nice place to be - the ride isn't perfect for my tastes but I've said that beforeTheCoolerKing said:

Where did that figure come from...... rebuilds are 1/3 of that and a fluid change even at a specialist 1/5 of that againTheCoolerKing said:

Now that is a nice motor. Looks so much better on those rims than the normal m-parallels with rubber band tyres.
Not a fan of M-par's and I don't like the ride on 18's - X-spokes (basket weaves) are a bugger to keep clean (had a lot of senators lol) so it's running on these now
One day I get round to finishing the 18's for summer use
Before

Striped

Centres powder coated

Just got to polish the rims and put them back together and buy the tyres
I bought my 740 Sport last April to mainly cover motorway miles. It's covered 133k and feels like it could happily cover another 133k. It has a full service history with supporting invoices for the past 8 years. The previous owner had the Auto box reconditioned at a cost of £1,700.
