Anyone know what these are like in the snow? Our old style X5 4.8 was great, but the X5M has low profile tyres doesn't it? So does that mean it's going to struggle?

Thanks

Having seen a Touareg spinning all four of it's rather low profile tyres in snow as a VW Polo went past it ... I would guess an X5M may not be any different !

Just a guess mind biggrin

You'll need winter tyres. Now if only there was a thread about that somewhere;)

Genuine view is that they should be fine if driven gently, same as most cars tbh. There will always be a limti for one of these though.

Try a Bowler Wildcat - they're fantastic.

Any 4x4 will be great in snow with the right tyres and crap with the wrong ones. It just so happens that BMW fit tyres that are generally great for summer and crap for winter. An X6M would fall into this category.

Mine is a total disaster in the snow. Slides and slips all over the place. My old 4.6is was far better. Tried with TC off and all it wants to do is doughnuts biggrin

They are utterly useless on the standard fit tea tray taboggan tyres

My neighbour parked his on his snow covered drive (2"s) and as he was getting out it slid back down his drive and into his garden wall OUCH!

Then he couldn't get traction to move away.

I'm sure with proper winter tyres this woudn't be an issue.

Gutted for him as he fairly stuffed the rear panel and bumper.
