E34 dash dial thingy...

in a 1990 E34 535i there is a dial on the right hand side of the steering column with what appears to be a picture of head lamps, and you can move the dial to "0", "1" or "2" but i can't figure out what on earth it does?

also the dial on the left hand side of the column....is that the dial for the instrument lights?

nice one. gotta say i'm absolutely loving it at the moment

fuel economy is, erm, interesting though it's not too bad sat at a certain speed (i think it was showing 26-27mpg at 70mph on cruise control) but it's just as soon as you put your foot down, it really likes a drink huh!
