Hi
Ive got an 2009 x5 m sport.
Just noticed today that headlight washer was missing along with flap on both sides of the front bumper. Intial thoughts were someone had stolen them but after a conversation with BMW parts, they have had a few customers coming to them about it recently, specially on the 3 series and basically something to do with the cold and they must have frozen and when activated they just blew right off because of the pressure.
Anyone had such a problem?
It may not be covered by warranty and the damage is £230!!

Total joke and will push for it to be sorted under warranty. Going down on Wednesday.
if it's a common problem then they should sort it. i'd argue that using BMW washer fluid or not, it won't make fTotal joke and will push for it to be sorted under warranty. Going down on Wednesday.
k all difference to whether it'll blow off or not (hence it has been blowing off even with use of BMW washer fluid!)Can you take a fuse out to disable the headlight washers to prevent this from happening again? I've always found them to be a pain in the arse, they piss away all the screenwash and make sod all difference to the state of the headlight lenses, which in these conditions need to be sponged regularly anyway. Not sure if there would be legal / MOT implications as I'm sure they are legally required for OEM HID systems.
Also a thumbs up for the BMW screenwash, it smears less and resists freezing better than anything else I've found, consequently it seems to last a long time. It only comes in small bottles so I just make a point of buying 10-12 at a time, which will usually get us through the year (2 cars).
ETA does anyone know if these headlight washer nozzles are heated as the windscreen ones usually are? In my E90 I always make sure the window heater elements have been running for a good while before I try and activate washers, as I presume this helps defrost them.

Had this problem yesterday, both the washers had popped out.
Tried to pop them back in but couldn't, removed one as it was hanging out badly and would have got lost during the journey. Later on in the day they went in as obviously the liquid inside had melted.
Car is an 06 e92 330 which I bought from the local BMW dealer in april.
Phoned today and explained what had happened and was told to take the car in and they would test the additive to see if I had been using the correct concentrate, if so they would change it under warranty.
As soon as I explained the car was an 06 I was told the warranty did not cover it and the 1 year approved warranty I got from them was of no use either.
I got the usual spiel from him how extreme the conditions had been and to this I answered I wonder what they do in Sweden.
So anyone under warranty should go and get them replaced however according to the service department you are getting a straight swap not a modified part as according to BMW this is not a design fault.
