Launch control on a 320d ED?!?
Discussion
I have got a bit of vibration from the dashboard and was trying to diagnose at what revs it is most noticeable. In neutral with the clutch down I could not rev above 3,250 rpm, regardless of how much throttle I used. With the clutch released it would rev to the limiter. I'm actually guessing that this is some type of limiter to stop the clutch being destroyed, rather than launch control. I didn't get much time to play so will have to investigate further to make sure I'm not talking complete boll*cks

Correct, it's a driveline load protection strategy, as the diesel engines large interia and low (numerically high) ratio 1st gear plays havock with the rest of the driveline
Or could be that it's not good for a diesel to be revved with no load. My NSX limits to 7000 when stationary, and I think a number of other cars do it.NoelWatson said:
