Checking/replacing e60 PDC Sensor

Hi all - quick query...
The usual "PDC Failure!" message has come up on the iDrive. Checked them all for the "click", and the near-side outermost front PDC sensor is at fault. Did notice that it wasn't getting any readings from this one for a week or so before the error came up. So not sure if it's a sensor fault or a bad connection there.
Anyway - does anybody know how to get to this sensor (it's on an M-Sport if that makes any difference) - it seems well cocooned? I.e. is it a bumper-off job, or is there a short-cut?
