X5 Buying Advice
Discussion
I'm not getting to use my Porsche 996 much these days and when I do there's so much traffic, cameras etc that I'm thinking of selling it and going for something completely different and have seen a pre 2007 model X5 I like the look of. Ideally I'd like the newer 3.0 sd but they're too much for me at the moment hence thinking of the older model 3.0 d sport. Anyway, can anyone point me in the direction of some buying advice as I'm sure it will have been provided before - things to look out for, must have options etc. Any other useful general information is welcome too. Thanks. Oh and, if buying privately, how easy is it to get on the BMW warranty scheme and is it worthwhile?
Dan,
Have a look at www.xdrivers.co.uk - loads of buying advice over there specific to the X. I've had a couple and now on the 4.0d M-Sport, the 3.0d is a good-un plenty of examples around in classifieds / AT. You may also want to look at the 4.4 or 4.8s as they representing stonking value as most folks worry about the fuel bills. On my 4.4 was getting 17-19mpg with mixed commute. May open your options up when looking.
If your after the E53 (pre-2007) then here's the link to AW8s buying guide :

Good luck, btw whats the 996 your offloading ? as it happens I'm looking for a 996 /997 (around 2004 - 2006)
